Our current pre-wired system is the Custom Plug-and-Play CNC Control Electronics System — you pick the cabinet, motors, and controller, and it ships wired and tested. If you'd rather wire your own, the electronics combos have the same components without the cabinet. This page is kept for reference and for owners of existing redSprout systems.

This complete computer and CNC machine electronics plug and play system was a smaller-form-factor version of the redLeaf. The system came assembled with the electronics wired and tested, running Linux (Ubuntu) with LinuxCNC or Windows with Mach3 depending on the option purchased.

The basic system had three standard motors (425 oz-in torque) and drivers (3.0 amp per phase), which suited the blueChick, blackToe, or general duty machines. The Heavy Gantry option included two standard motors and drivers plus a heavy duty motor (651 oz-in) and driver (6.0 amp) to move the gantry, which suited the blackFoot or machines with a heavy gantry. The Heavy Duty option used large motors (651 oz-in) and drivers (6.0 amp) on each axis.

The motherboard used in this system was a Mini-ITX with an Atom processor permanently affixed with a heat sink. This allowed the overall form to be smaller since the motherboard had a smaller footprint and there was no need for an ATX computer PSU; it was powered by a DC-DC converter and a DC adapter. The hard drive was either a 2.5" 60 GB SSD or a 2.5" 500GB standard hard drive.

  • DOES THE PLUG AND PLAY ELECTRONICS COMPUTER FOR 3 AXIS CNC MACHINE HAVE ENOUGH MEMORY RAM ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE (BOBCAD-CAM, BOBART, MACH3) TO BE ADDED FUNCTION WELL?

    The plug and play system does have enough memory for additional software. The redLeaf comes standard with a 1TB hard drive.

    Our Computer CNC-systems, come integrated with all the required electronics (motherboard, HDD, PSU). Only input devices(mouse, keyboard, monitor) and software are required to be purchased separately, to have a complete ready to go system. You can use an external HDD or Flash-drive, to transfer data from your laptop/computer to the built in computer system.
