Ready to step up to ARM?

If you want to move beyond AVR into modern professional embedded development, the ARM Advanced Kit (STM32F0) is the next step. ARM (STM32) is the modern industry standard — higher clock speeds, more peripherals, and a much richer ecosystem for serious embedded work.

The middle-tier AVR kit — for builders who've moved past blinking LEDs and want to start using real peripherals. Adds a 16x2 LCD display, voltage regulators, potentiometers, additional capacitors, and the components you need to start building circuits with displays, analog input, and serial communication.

Who this kit is for

  • Builders who completed the AVR Beginner Kit and want more capability
  • Hobbyists ready to learn UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, and ADC
  • Students working through intermediate AVR projects with displays and analog inputs
  • Anyone who wants more than blinking LEDs without paying for the full sensor suite

What's included

  • (1) Atmel Atmega324P-20PU AVR microcontroller
  • (1) USB AVR programmer
  • (1) Breadboard adapter PCB for USBasp programmer
  • (1) White prototyping breadboard with power rails
  • (1) Jumper wire pack — 140 pieces, multi-size, multi-color
  • (45) 2x pin header IDC strips
  • (12) Green through-hole LEDs
  • (2) Red through-hole LEDs
  • (14) 330Ω 1/4W through-hole resistors
  • (1) Push button switch (6x6 flat, 4.3mm)
  • (4) 100µF 50V polarized through-hole capacitors
  • (4) 10µF electrolytic capacitors
  • (4) 10kΩ 1/4W through-hole resistors
  • (4) 1kΩ 1/4W through-hole resistors
  • (7) 0.1µF 50V through-hole capacitors
  • (1) 16x2 LCD character display module
  • (8) Connector header breakaway male
  • (3) 10kΩ trimmer potentiometers
  • (1) 50kΩ potentiometer
  • (1) 5V LDO regulator (MAX603)

Frequently asked questions

Q: How is this kit different from the Beginner Kit?
The Beginner Kit covers fundamentals — chip, programmer, LEDs, buttons, basic resistors and capacitors. This Intermediate Kit adds a 16x2 LCD display, potentiometers, a 5V voltage regulator, additional capacitors, and more pin headers so you can start working with displays, analog inputs, and serial communication.

Q: How is this kit different from the Advanced Kit?
The Advanced Kit includes everything here plus an ADXL345 accelerometer, ultrasonic range finder, larger 20x4 LCD, FTDI USB-to-serial converter, additional voltage regulator, crimp pins and SIL housings. If you know you'll want sensors, the Advanced Kit usually costs less than upgrading later.

Q: Already have the Beginner Kit?
Use our Upgrade Kits to add only the components missing — no need to repurchase what you already have.
