C69 PWM Spindle Speed Control Board

The C69 PWM Speed Control Board is designed to let your CNC control system command spindle speed using a PWM control signal. The board outputs a 0–10VDC analog signal, which is commonly used by VFDs and spindle drives for external speed control.

This board is useful when you want your CNC software to control spindle speed automatically instead of manually adjusting the VFD or motor controller. It also includes two onboard relays that can be used for spindle direction and drive enable/disable control, depending on your wiring setup.

Best for: CNC routers, CNC mills, VFD spindle control, parallel-port CNC systems, Mach-style spindle setups, and CNC control boxes that need 0–10V analog spindle speed output.

Why Choose the C69?

  • 0–10V spindle speed output: Provides the analog speed signal used by many VFDs and spindle drives.
  • PWM-based speed control: Allows your CNC controller or software to command spindle speed automatically.
  • Built-in relay outputs: Includes two relays that can be used for spindle enable, start/stop, or direction control depending on your setup.
  • DB25 parallel-port connections: Includes two DB25 connectors for connecting a parallel port interface to the CNC controller setup.
  • Optoisolated output signals: Helps protect control electronics from electrical noise and ground issues commonly found around VFDs and motor drives.
  • TTL 5VDC signal compatibility: Designed to interface with common CNC parallel-port products and other CNC4PC-style control boards.
  • Flexible installation: Can be used with CNC4PC products, direct parallel-port systems, or compatible parallel-port control hardware.
  • Can work with some DC motor controllers: In compatible setups, this board can replace the manual speed potentiometer signal used by certain DC motor controllers.

Main Features

  • Outputs analog 0–10VDC speed-control signal
  • Designed for compatible VFD and spindle drive speed control
  • PWM spindle speed control support
  • Two DB25 connectors for parallel-port style wiring
  • Two onboard relays for direction and enable/disable control
  • Can be used for clockwise/counterclockwise direction control where supported
  • Optoisolated analog and CW/CCW output signals
  • TTL +5VDC signal compatibility
  • Works with many parallel-port CNC control products
  • Useful for CNC spindle speed automation and control box retrofits

How It Works

Many VFDs and spindle drives accept an external 0–10VDC analog speed signal. A lower voltage commands a lower spindle speed, while a higher voltage commands a higher spindle speed. For example, approximately 5V usually represents about 50% speed and 10V represents full commanded speed, depending on the VFD settings.

The C69 allows your CNC control system to generate that speed command from a PWM signal. This lets your CNC software control spindle speed directly, instead of requiring the operator to manually adjust speed at the VFD.

Spindle Control Functions

Function Purpose
0–10V Analog Output Commands compatible VFD or spindle-drive speed.
Relay 1 Can be used for spindle enable, start/stop, or direction depending on wiring.
Relay 2 Can be used for direction control or another spindle-control function depending on wiring.
DB25 Connections Provides parallel-port style connection points for compatible CNC controller setups.

Customer-Friendly Explanation

The C69 is the board that helps your CNC controller control spindle speed through a VFD. Your CNC system sends a PWM signal, and the C69 provides the 0–10V analog signal that many VFDs use to set spindle speed.

Use this board when you want spindle speed to be controlled from your CNC software instead of manually changing speed with the VFD keypad or a physical knob.

Common Uses

  • VFD spindle speed control
  • CNC router spindle automation
  • CNC mill spindle control
  • Parallel-port CNC control systems
  • Mach-style spindle output setups
  • PWM-to-analog speed conversion
  • Spindle enable and direction wiring
  • Control box upgrades and retrofits
  • Compatible DC motor speed-control applications

Important Compatibility Notes

  • This board is not a VFD and is not a motor driver.
  • It provides a 0–10VDC analog speed-control signal for compatible drives.
  • Your VFD or motor controller must support external 0–10V analog speed control.
  • Your CNC controller or breakout board must provide the required PWM/control signals.
  • Direction control only works if your VFD or drive is wired and configured to support CW/CCW control.
  • VFD parameters may need to be changed so the drive accepts external analog speed control instead of keypad control.
  • Always verify wiring and VFD documentation before connecting spindle-control electronics.
